Tylenol PM

Tylenol PM is a compound medication that consists of acetaminophen (paracetamol) and diphenhydramine. The presence of the latter substance is the feature that makes that brand distributed by Johnson & Johnson unique in the Tylenol row. "PM" in the drug's name refers to the recommended usage of the medication. It means "post meridiem", i.e. this version of Tylenol is usually taken in the evening before going to bed. Diphenhydramine included in the formula together with acetaminophen prevents sneezing, itchying, running nose and other symptoms of the common cold, allergies and hay fever, helping the patient sleep well. So, Tylenol PM is not a sleeping pill, as some people believe. It just spares you breathing, etc difficulties and is conductive to the feeling of calmness, so important for everyone to have a good rest.

Tylenol 500

What is Tylenol 500? It can hardly be called a special brand of Tylenol medicine, like Tylenol 1 or Tylenol 4. The number 500 refers to the amount of acetaminophen in the formulation - 500 mg. And, when we speak of Tylenol with 500 mg of acetaminophen in each dose, we usually mean the so called Extra Strength Tylenol (availble with a number of brand names, such as Tylenol Extra Strength Caplets, Tylenol Extra 500 mg Ez Tablets, etc). In Extra Strength Tylenol the amount of acetaminophen is much higher than in Tylenol #1 to #4 (500 mg as compared to 300 mg). Moreover, the whole dose of the medication is released immediately. That's why "Tylenol 500" is a stronger pain killer.
